How it All Works

Bespoke jewellery is one of those wonderful things where you can imagine something, see something, dream of something and I can bring it to life... when it comes to jewellery anyway!

But where do you start...

Lets Chat....

As with most thing here at my workshop its all start with a chat, a cuppa tea and probably a biscuit!

Whether its something you've inherited that isn't quite your style and you want it re-making into something a bit more you or just something completely new, we can help! We can melt old gold and remake it into something new, or use old stones into new settings. We utilize traditional and modern techniques to bring your designs and ideas to life. Hand drawn designs to start with, then maybe some CAD designs if needed.

Bring you pintrest boards, your doodles, and your bits of jewellery and lets put it all together!!

What can you make?

Necklaces, earrings, rings, pins, brooches, cufflinks, I even made a Morcroft Pot Stand once!

What I'm trying to say is anything at all and there's loads of different ways of doing this!

I use mostly traditional jewellery making skills and do the majority of work in workshop. Anything I can hand craft I will. One of my skills the Meltdown (no I don't have a tantrum), I melt your gold down and make something new out of it. Using your gold is a great way of keeping something really sentimental but make it into your style, rather than it sitting in a box gathering dust.

There is certain types of pieces which make more sense to have CAD designed at which point I use a company in Birmingham. things with lots of stone sizes, things that could cost a lot of money to sit and make and create a lot of wasted gold.

There is also merit to "ready made mounts" this is where you want something really classic like a solitaire diamond pendant in a simple 4 claw pendant mount. You can buy these ready to go, we choose the diamond (the fun bit) we get a mount put the two together and there you have it. Its considerably more cost effective for you. There are thousands of ready made mounts out there so lots to choose from.

So many choices but don't worry! I can explain everything when we chat.

Pricing

As you can imagine prices depend on the piece but here are some costs that are set. All costs are agreed before any work starts and a 50% deposit is required unless discussed otherwise.

Consultation time is FREE!

Melt downs start £250- this is to create a plain simple ring or bangle. A Classic plain wedding band for example. Adding more design elements, stone setting, engraving is additional.

CAD design starts at £90. If we go down the CAD route this is cost of just the CAD design it self. It is charged at an hourly rate so the more changes you make the more time is spent and if then you don't proceed you still have to pay for the design work. So its worth having a really clear idea of what we are making before going this way.

Hallmarking, £50. If you would like your bespoke piece hallmarking this is usually factored into the costing and timeline but for some pieces it is optional such as melt downs or smaller silver pieces.

Left over gold or unused gold and precious metals. You scrap your left over gold, or take the value off your piece. This is worked our on the gold price that day.

  • Payments

Full Payment must be made in advance of or on collection. You can pay by invoice that i will email to you detailing your piece. You can pay in the workshop by Card or Cash however i don't keep cash onsite so would need to be exact.

A 50% deposit is required so I can acquire your materials unless other wise discussed. Deposits are non refundable

  • Faults & Repairs

All bespoke jewellery has a 6 month warranty. This may seem short but it due to the fluctuating price gold in the current market.

Just occasionally a join can split open or a fault appear, don't stress, this can happen for many reasons. If your piece breaks or develops a fault within the first 6 months I will en-devour to repair it free of charge.

After 6 months its highly unlikely the ring has broken due to its manufacturing process.

  • How to look after your jewellery

    • Don't wear your jewellery at the gym, rock climbing and doing manual labour.
    • Soap, perfumes and strong chemicals will damage soft stones and pearls. Last thing on, first thing off rule!
    • Remember that as much as its metal and we all think of metal being hard, strong. Precious metals are some of the softest metals on earth, they will scratch, bend, claws can get caught, high Carat gold is especially soft!
    • Don't treat your jewellery as if it is indestructible, I promise you its not, its beautiful precious thing to be treasured!
    • Put the ketchup and vinegar away!!! Invest in some good quality jewellery cleaner. I use Connisours Dip, Wipes and Dazzle sticks. They are really good!
