The Courtyard was created by Nikki Hough, after years of working within the jewellery industry and retail after studying Applied Art and Design at Bournemouth University. I loved spending hours talking to customers and designing stunning pieces of jewellery but the draw has always been making jewellery! As with all stories Nikki's is one of twists and turns, the last couple of years has had some dramatic ones for Nikki and her family. The resonating response being life's precious, so lets enjoy it! So here we are opening the workshop, Nikki with the help of her family and her love of jewellery. 

The thing I love about jewellery is how something so small can be so precious for so many reasons; it may have been a gift, or handed down through family or something your sibling made from pasta when they were five years old! The memory's attached to these things is what makes them so special. Its not always the actual thing that matters all that much but jewellery is one those things that through out history has been attached to ceremonies and moments of importance in life that matter and so they move hand in hand.

I have found that the experience of making the item, that you'll then give to someone special, adds such value to something for that person. I wanted to be able to offer than experience to others through my classes, it might just be simple silver ring, but it means so much more than its value.
